Il 19dicembre e' il mio compleanno.
Per anni non l'ho festeggiato. Non ci trovavo niente di allegro poi, in Cile, ho ritrovato un po' di voglia.
L'anno scorso ho passato il compleanno piu' triste della mia vita. Mi hanno detto che non meritavo il dottorato. Sono rimasto in piedi grazie ad una donna straordinaria che mi e' stata vicina e che ha saputo darmi il suo appoggio.
Quest'anno ho festeggiato con mia madre. Quella donna di un anno fa e' lontana ma ha profonde radici nel mio cuore. Quest'anno ho festeggiato a Bruxelles e, curiosamente, ho festeggiato subito dopo aver lasciato il mio lavoro. Sono ancora un astronomo?

December 19 is my birthday.
For years I haven't celebrated it. I didn't find anything funny then, in Chile, I've found some will of celebrating again.
Last year I've had the saddest birthday of my life. They told me that I didn't deserve a PhD. I managed to keep going thanks to an extraordinary woman who stood by me and who gave me her support.
This year I've celebrated with my mum. Last year's woman is faraway now but she has very deep roots in my heart. This year I celebrated in Brussels and, curiously, I've celebrated immediately after quitting my job. Am I still an astronomer?
