International Astronomical Union, 26th General Assembly

Mi sono reso conto di non aver scritto niente sull'Assemblea Generale (GA) dell'Unione Astronomica Internazionale (IAU), tenutasi a Praga tra il 14 e il 25agosto 2006 e durante la quale e' stato deciso che Plutone non e' un pianeta ma un "Pianeta Nano". Ebbene... IO C'ERO!
Finalmente posso dire di aver vissuto un momento storico! Ok, non ho votato (per "correttezza"... non ho fatto richiesta di diventare Membro dell'IAU perche' non mi considero ancora un "ricercatore indipendente" come richiesto dallo Statuto dell'IAU, anche se, probabilmente, sono molto piu' indipendente di certi membri...), ma c'ero mentre gli altri votavano.

Per il resto la GA e' stato un grande momento in cui le conferenze si sovrapponevano ed era impossibile riuscire a seguire tutto cio' che si sarebbe voluto: semplicemente troppo affascinante ed interessante!

La nota di colore e' stato aver conosciuto un bel gruppo di persone, tutti "binari", con i quali spero di tenermi in contatto a lungo :)

I noticed that I didn't write anything about the General Assembly (GA) of the International Astronomical Union (IAU), held in Prague between aug14 and aug25 2006 and during which it has been decided that Pluto is not a Planet anymore but it's actually a "Dwarf Planet". Well... I WAS THERE!

I can finally tell I have attended an historical moment!

Ok, I didn't vote (to be "fair"... I didn't ask for IAU membership because I don't fell yet an "independent researcher" as requested by IAU Statute, even though I am likely more independent of few members...), but I was there while the others were voting.

For the rest the GA has been a great moment in which conferences were overlapping and it was impossible to attend everything that someone wanted to attend: simply too charmy and interesting!

The note of "colour" has been to meet a nice group of people, all "binaries", with whom I hope I will stay in touch for a long time :)
