Deep Impact 2006 Conference (day 4)
L'ultima giornata di una conferenza e' difficile perche' arriva la stanchezza ed un po' di tristezza.
L'argomento della giornata e' stato il gas prodotto dalle comete. Il modo in cui la gente studia la dinamica del gas e' "creativa". La fisica, invece, e' particolarmente intrigante per me, visto che si tratta di gas molto piu' freddo di quello con cui ho a che fare normalmente. Ammetto di aver avuto delle emozioni quando ho sentito nominare le transizioni dell'ossigeno :)
Plasma e missioni future, sono stati solo sfiorati.
Penso che, in parte, questa gente abbia perso un'occasione per mettere insieme i dati e fare quello che i cosmologi stanno facendo con GOODS. Chissa' che non ci pensino...
Salutare la gente e' stato divertente. C'e' stata gente che m'ha chiesto se parlassi inglese e gente che mi prendeva per inglese... in compenso mi resta il piacere che tutti siano rimasti soddisfatti della conferenza e dell'efficienza del LOC.
Chissa' che un giorno io non mi ritrovi a lavorare su qualche cometa... una MPEC (Minor Planet Electronic Circular) gia' ce l'ho ;)

The last day of a conference is difficoult because exhaustion and a bit of sadness arrive.
The topic of the day has been the gas produced in comet. The way people study the dynamics of gas is "creative". The physics, on the other hand, is very intriguing for me, since the gas is a lot colder than the one I usually have to deal with. I must admit that I have had some emotion when I heard about oxygen transitions :)
Plasma and future missions, have hardly been discussed.
I think that, partly, these people have lost an occasion to put together all the data and do what cosmologists are doing with GOODS. Maybe they'll think about it.
Saying goodbye to people has been funny. There's been people asking me if I could speak english and people telling me I sounded english... anyway I have the pleasure to say that everybody was happy about the conference and about the efficiency of the LOC.
Perhaps one day I'll start working on some comet... I already have an MPEC (Minor Planet Electronic Circular) ;)
