il Papa e gli scienziati / the Pope and the scientists

Il Papa ha dichiarato oggi che gli scienziati sono attratti da facili guadagni.

Io non so' che razza di scienziati conosca il Papa ma la vita dello scienziato, in Italia come all'estero, e' una vita di lacrime e sangue, famiglie rovinate (per chi ha il tempo e il modo di costruirne una) e molti pochi soldi. La ricompensa e' un mattoncino nell'edificio del Sapere.

The Pope has declared today that scientists are attracted by easy earnings.

I don't know what sort of scientists the Pope knows but a scientist's life, in Italy and abroad, is a life of tears and blood, ruined families (for those who have the time and a way to build up one) and very little money. The reward is a small brick in the building of Knowledge.
