dichiarazione di indipendenza / declaration of independence

Nel gergo di ESO, l'osservatorio in cui lavoro, il "proposal" e' la richiesta di poter usare gli straordinari strumenti che l'Osservatorio offre.
La scadenza per i proposal era ieri ed io ne ho inviati due.
Questo non e' niente di speciale.
Quello che e' speciale e' che queste richieste nascono dal mio lavoro, dalla mia immaginazione e dalla mia capacita' di interagire con le persone. Quello che e' speciale e' che questi proposal segnano, finalmente, la mia indipendenza dalle persone con cui ho lavorato durante il mio Dottorato.
Mi sento un po' piu' ricercatore indipendente.

In the jargon of ESO, the observatory where I work, a "proposal" is a request to use the extraordinary instruments that the Observatory offers.
The deadline for proposal submission was yesterday and I've sent out two.
This is nothing special.
The special thing is these two proposals were born from my work, my imagination and my ability to interact with people. The special thing is that these proposals mark, finally, my independence from the people with whom I've been working during my Ph.D..
I feel a bit more an independent researcher.
