NO!

Lo ammetto, ho avuto paura per la Democrazia in Italia.

La tentata riforma costituzionale del governo Berlusconi era un'infame tentativo di privare il Parlamento e il Presidente della Repubblica dei loro poteri ed accentrare tutto nelle mani di un solo uomo. Una riforma che e' figlia di un'idea politica sbagliata. L'Italia non e' un'azienda ed il Presidente del Consiglio non e' a capo di un consiglio di amministrazione ma e' un dipendente del Popolo.

Il Popolo Italiano ha votato "NO" e lo ha votato in modo chiaro ed inequivocabile.

L'unica affermazione vera che ho sentito durante la campagna elettorale e' stata che l'Italia ha "voglia di modernita'". E' vero. Quello che non e' vero e' che la modernita' passa per la riforma della Costituzione. La modernita' passa per una nuova classe politica. Il Sig.Bossi, mentre si votava, ha espresso il desiderio di andare in Svizzera se il "NO" avesse vinto. Me ne rallegro e propongo una colletta per comprargli un biglietto ferroviario. Sarei molto curioso di vedere il Sig.Bossi che affronta i problemi di un immigrato.

I must admit, I have been scared for Democracy in Italy.

The (attempted) constitutional reform of Berlusconi's government was a mean attempt to deprive the Parliament and the President of the Republic of their powers and give them all to a single person. A reform which is daughter of a mistaken political idea. Italy is not a company and the Prime Minister is not head of a board of directors but he is an employee of People.

Italian People voted "NO" and voted it in a clear and unmistakable way.

The only real statement that I've heard during the electoral campaign has been that Italy has "will of modernity". It is true. What is not true is that the modernity comes from a reform of the Constitution. Modernity comes from a new political class. Mr.Bossi, during the voting, expressed the wish to go to Switzerland if "NO" was winning. I am glad to hear this and I propose to collect money to buy him a train ticket. I would be really curious to see Mr.Bossi facing an immigrate's problem.
